Phelps and Free Speech

This from Free Will.

I must say that Phelps and his "church" really push my buttons. The ACLU has aided in lowering their standards once again. I have to honestly state that those whoe went this far to ensure First Amendment rights against civil norms in this extreme get to have their own emotions stomped on in a manner as extreme as Phelps does to these soldier's families.

Even more irritating is that Phelps and his flock of assholes were contemplating protesting at the Amish funerals for the children killed in Pennsylvania.
The lowest of the low apparently plan to picket the funerals of innocent girls slain by another bottom-feeder:
A Kansas church group that planned to demonstrate at the funerals of five Amish girls killed in an attack on their one-room schoolhouse has dropped the picket plans, a reversal that came hours after the state's governor offered the Amish police protection.
And
You may remember in May, when the ACLU sued Kentucky for banning such events within 300 feet of military funerals and won, leading to a confrontation between the Westboro Baptist "Church" and a counter-protest group who set up a blockade around the funeral home. It's amazing that these people aren't beaten.
At this point, I'm beginning to put the ACLU and the Phelps congregations in the same pool. I think these people forget civility is a requirement in civiliations. When people choose to trod intentionally on others most emotional times, they should not be provided protections.

Oh ick. They're supporting this guy? They've got money for this, but can't seem to support the 2nd Amendment in any way? Damn. I love the idea of the ACLU, but the fact of the place is getting kind of smelly.
