Dukakis Changes History to Support Patrick

Oh lordy, here we go again. Seriously, do we need any other reason to NOT elect Deval Patrick than his support from Dukakis? I can't believe he would resurface that issue. For those with short memories, or who are too young, a recap.
During the 1988 presidential primaries, Al Gore brought up Dukakis' furlough program and its failures, in general. The program allowed criminals to go free for a weekend and then report back to prison. As Dukakis himself said, it's 99% effective. During the general campaign, one of that 1% was a man named Willie Horton. He was already serving time for murder, but Dukakis had vetoed a bill that would have kept people like Horton behind bars. While on his furlough, well, here's a very good history of the issue:

On April 3, 1987 in Oxon Hill, Maryland, Horton raped a local woman and assaulted her fiancé. He then stole the car belonging to the man he had assaulted, but was later captured by police after a chase. On October 20, Horton was sentenced in Maryland to two consecutive life terms plus 85 years. The sentencing judge refused to return Horton to Massachusetts, saying, "I'm not prepared to take the chance that Mr. Horton might again be furloughed or otherwise released. This man should never draw a breath of free air again."

The main complaint from the Dems was that this was racism because Willie Horton was black. I'm sure this did play well in some areas, but I'm pretty sure that it would have played just as well in most areas if it had been a white guy. This man was able to go on his little crime spree because of Mike Dukakis. Mike Dukakis supports Deval Patrick. Deval Patrick also wants to free convicted torturers & rapists (in addition to raising taxes, giving in-state tuition to illegal aliens, blah, blah). We don't want or need this kind of man running our state government.
Elect Kerry Healey
