The Ivory Billed Woodpecker has been thought extinct for the past 60 years. Recently seen in Arkansas, that bastion of bird watching. How could people miss this rather large and gaudy bird? Maybe they needed glasses? Or maybe bird watching isn't the biggest of hobbies in the mid-west?
