Just read Granted's post on Smedley, and being factually challenged on the Stalin/Mao death toll, I did a quick search and found this rather interesting, if disturbing, site.
I guess the whole thing comes down to how you do the math. And the end result is an outrageous number of deaths. Irrelevant of the number you end up with Stalin and Mao were both monsters on a biblical scale. This site has special entries for both Stalin and Mao.
