Call for Federal Gun Laws

Alphecca has a couple of entries on editorials calling for Federal Gun Laws. The editorials are the usual mix of BS. You can read the analysis at Alphecca. I just want to point out the end statement from the Boston Globe article that continually frustrates me.
These solutions require the political will and courage to stand up to the greed, ignorance, and shortsightedness of the gun lobby and their supporters in Congress and the White House. We must recognize that if gun violence were killing mostly suburban white kids and not urban kids of color, there would be an uproar that Congress and the president could not ignore. There should be an uproar to quiet the sound of gunshots in our inner cities.
Stop and think a second. Is the problem guns or the urban kids of color using guns to kill each other? Why is this always twisted to blame an inanimate object for the actions of the urban youth? Note that this is a race issue. Another way to distort reason. They are the ones violating the laws and killing each other. Why do we need federal legislation further encroaching on the law abiding citizen? Does this guy honestly believe that more legislation will stop the illegal activities of the criminals? Is he missing that they already don't care to abide by present law, and that they would just ignore the new laws as well?

Bloody idiot.
