Blonde Bond?

Not sure I have an issue with this. The guy definitely looks like how I'd imagine Bond, except for the blonde hair. I had to look up Bond's description to make sure he was dark haired in the book.
In the novels (notably From Russia, With Love), Bond's physical description has generally been consistent: a three-inch, vertical scar on his left cheek (absent from the cinematic version); blue-grey eyes;a "cruel" mouth; short-cut, dark hair, a comma of which falls on his forehead (greying at the temples in John Gardner's novels), and (after Casino Royale) the faint scar of the Russian cyrillic letter "ะจ" (SH) on the back of one of his hands (carved by a SMERSH agent).
I couldn't recall, and having a Scottish father and Swiss mother doesn't mean that you have to be a brunette.

Personally, I still think Connery was spot on as the character (based on the original book). Some of the others are close seconds, but Daniel Craig looks closer than Moore or Brosnan had. Take a look at the artist sketch that Fleming had commissioned for Bond.

Clive, baby. It should have been Clive. He's dark, he smolders, and he can do tough and mean just fine, as well as look great in a tux and be posh.

Like you, I'm not thrilled with Craig as a choice. It does seem odd to have Bond be a blonde. But Craig can definitely do cruel, so at least he won't be campy like Moore. And he looks damn good with his shirt off, so that's a plus in my book.

Essentially, it comes down to attitude. So we won't know how he really is until we see him in the film as Bond. I thought Brosnan would be too light, but he proved to be my second favorite Bond. And really, how much does hair color matter? Richard Sharpe was supposed to be dark haired too, but Sean Bean has made that character his own.
