Heh. Gotta love this.
Saw it at Free Will.
EFFORTS by Hollywood actor Sean Penn to aid New Orleans victims stranded by Hurricane Katrina foundered badly overnight, when the boat he was piloting to launch a rescue attempt sprang a leak.Go see the picture of Penn in his "flak vest." Just seeing that made me want to shoot him.
Mr Penn had planned to rescue children waylaid by Katrina's flood waters, but apparently forgot to plug a hole in the bottom of the vessel, which began taking water within seconds of its launch.
I gotta ask, would you get into a boat with Sean Penn or take your chances on foot?
Me, I'd rather walk.
The best part is the last line in the article:
With the boat loaded with members of Penn's entourage, including a personal photographer, one bystander taunted the actor: "How are you going to get any people in that thing?"Heh.

I must be a hero, I play one in the movies!
The ego of actors is sometimes just breathtaking, isn't it? I would applaud his efforts to help, despite his incompetence, if he hadn't taken along a friggin' photographer! It's hard to believe his motives are wholly altruistic when he's making sure he's getting publicity shots.
Blech.
