Sadly, I believe Israel is about to enter a new series of troubles from Gaza. It's comments like the following that really make it appear likely:
Militant group Hamas said its campaign of violence had been the driving force behind Israel's withdrawal."We will not rest until we liberate all Palestinian land, crowned by Jerusalem," leader Ismail Hanieh said.
Israel says it will retaliate harshly to any attack on its citizens from the area.
Hamas is obviously deluding themselves. They were definitely not the driving force. I honestly believe it was world opinion. The Israelis realized that if they gave all that land back, then there is almost nothing a reasonable critic could hold them to for criticism. Unfortunately for them there are a huge number of unreasonable people in the world.
I suppose all we can do is wait and see.
