Miller/Cooper Forced To Testify?

I guess I'm missing something. I thought they were held in contempt for failure to reveal their source. Since they've done that, what is this jail time about?
In a court filing, special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald said Cooper still must agree to cooperate with prosecutors to avoid jail, even though Time last week turned over notes and e-mails that identify his sources for an article on the disclosure of an undercover CIA operative's identity.

In unusually blunt language, Fitzgerald told Chief U.S. District Judge Thomas Hogan that Cooper and Miller pretend that journalists have a broader right to protect confidential sources than lawyers, presidents and law-enforcement officers.

"Journalists are not entitled to promise complete confidentiality — no one in America is," he wrote.

Something just doesn't seem right here. What else does the prosecutor want? Then again, why is Cooper resisting? At this point he doesn't appear to have anything more to lose by testifying.

Then there is this on Rove:
On Saturday, Rove's attorney said that Rove spoke with Cooper during the critical period in July 2003, just after Wilson's piece appeared, when reporters were calling the White House to ask questions about Wilson's assertions. But he said that Rove did not reveal Plame's identity and that Fitzgerald has assured him Rove is not a target of the investigation.
With all the screeching by some in the press that Rove is the culprit, I can understand why they presented this to the press. Not that it convinces me of Rove's innocence.

Of course, the regular political BS is flying around from none other than that Demospratic turd John Conyers.
"Notwithstanding whether Mr. Rove intentionally violated the law in leaking information concerning former CIA operative Valerie Plame," Conyers tells Bush, "we believe it is not tenable to maintain Mr. Rove as one of your most important advisors unless he is willing to explain his central role in using the power and authority of your Administration to disseminate information regarding Ms. Plame and to undermine her husband, Ambassador Joseph Wilson."

The Conyers letter urges Bush to "require" Rove "to either come forward immediately to explain his role in the Valerie Plame matter or to resign from your Administration."

Another day of politics as usual.
