What a large steaming pile.
Moral relativism at its worst. A Journalism professor making moral judgements on historical actions without context or understanding of what the world was at the time. By his methodology, you'd have to condemn nearly every action in history. That just places another notch in the mass stupidity of present journalists.
World's never been a nice place. Cultures go to war for advancement or self-preservation. You don't like the methods? You don't have to, but then you weren't there and didn't have to live with the world as it was. History shows the horrors of genocide that the europeans brought to the indians, but then these guys seem to miss the point that the indians weren't such nice people either. They were killing the colonists quite prolifically themselves when they weren't killing and enslaving eachother. The comments are pretty telling on where most stand on that issue. They still can only stand on relative moralizing. Don't bother to look at the point of view of the colonist and the lives that they had.
