Massachusetts Anti-Gun Millionaires

Yes, this was posted on the Instapundit, but since it directly involves both firearms and our local hoplophobes, I thought I'd share the link here. It's this outright deception that drove me out of the Democratic party. Say what you want about the religious right (please), they're honest. These types of groups that try to mask their intent behind carefully crafted names (American Hunters and Shooters Association, hmmm no self-defense mentioned there, hunting & target shooting are the only valid civilian uses) and phrases (more on that below) are a serious danger.
I swung by their site. They've got a little article on whether or not guns should be kept in the home for defense. Here's what they start off with:

The American Hunters and Shooters Association does not promote nor do we discourage keeping a firearm in the home for self-protection. We believe it is inappropriate for anyone to make a one-size-fits-all recommendation that an individual in Maryland, Texas, California or Massachusetts should or should not keep a firearm in the home.

The rest of the article is a discussion of all the problems with keeping a gun in the home. There is no discussion of any of the benefits. They even quote the Kellerman study (43 times more likely... blah, blah, blah) with the caveat that the results of the study have been questioned (didn't keep them from quoting it though). It's basically an anti-gun screed wrapped up inside of some safety retoric.
I think most people will see through this shite to the reality underneath, but some may not. It's those people that we need to try to keep educated. That's why I'm posting something from the Instapundit.

I especially like their little propaganda piece on the NRA not being freinds to the Hunter. Funny, that has always been their primary focus. They seem outraged that the NRA puts the member funds toward political works, though they quite clearly fail to point out that much of the legislation that they work for is to help hunters. Not to mention that the NRA doesn't hide how it uses funds. Though the article from these dolts doesn't separate the actions of the NRA and the NRA-ILA which are separately funded and work on different political fronts.

But hey, why tell the truth when you can distort and lie.

That's the thing that makes me crazy. If they're absolutely on the side of the angels, then surely they can simply tell the truth & everything will go their way. If they have to make crap up, lie, cheat, obfuscate and/or hide the truth... Are they really on the side of the angels?
