Putting the Error in Terror

Just too funny. In a sick sort of way. Caught this linked at SayUncle.

I'll go to the actual report, and you can look at the Comedian website for the humor.

BOSTON, Mar. 1 (UPI) -- A man convicted of building a bomb that killed a Boston police officer and severely injured another could get out of jail on a technicality.

The Boston Herald says the U.S. Attorney's office has missed two critical deadlines to contest U.S. District Court Justice Rya W. Zobel's ruling that Alfred Trenkler's 1993 sentence was a miscarriage of justice.

Zobel ruled that a judge did not have the authority to issue concurrent life sentences.

Trenkler, who was convicted of building and planting a bomb that exploded while bomb squad officers were examining it, will be in court for re-sentencing April 4, the newspaper said.

The newspaper said the U.S. Attorney's office has admitted that it "dropped the ball" in failing to file briefs in the case.

With their recent foolishness on something that obviously wasn't a bomb, it makes you wonder how they manage to keep their jobs. The police over react and the prosecutors drop the ball. Great.

UPDATE:
Seems Schneier is having at Boston as well:
Here's a link he had for BoingBoing on the Boston police blowing up a traffic counter.
And here's his link to a rather humorous poster.

You'd think that they'd start thinking instead of just overreacting.
