Effectiveness of Calling 911

Dave Kopel has a piece related to the National Academy of Science report on gun violence. He looks at the crime scenario from the effectiveness of the 911 system.

The conclusion I've come to is that I'd rather reach for a gun than for the phone. You're more likely to survive. Better that than have someone clean up after the criminal.

Gun first is the rule in our house. Was back in OK too. Prepare the defense, then call the police.

And I'm sure we'll see the mainstream media covering this particular aspect of the gun issue, right?

Revealing that, in the best case scenario, 911 will save your life 35% of the time? This will be touted far and wide, I'm sure.
